Moving to Lochland had done Pierre a lot more good that he initially realized it would. While he had loved living in Zürich, that attack last year had changed everything. Despite how he had lived in a big city all his life, he didn't feel safe anymore. Lots of the people he saw at the hospital knew exactly what had happened and what his injuries were, which he hated. Just about everywhere he went he was reminded on something that triggered a bad memory, and he hadn't been handling it well.

But since moving to Lochland he had been happy again. Enjoying life, not worrying about everything, even if he would never be comfortable walking in the dark again.

He had even started putting on weight again. While he had never been big, always slim and light, he had lost weight following that attack last year as he struggled to cope.

Getting sick however, didn't help things at all. He hated being sick, as he was no good at sitting down and resting. Being sick also affected his breathing, but at least he could use his diaphram pacer and was still able to move around freely. It had been much worse when he had a tracheostomy and had to be tethered to a ventilator.

While he was feeling a lot better and good enough to be back at work, he had been wearing his diaphram pacer just in case. However it was discrete, most people would never notice it. His sister had actually made him what was essentially a wide belt that he wore around his waist, which had a pocket in which the pacer's control box could slip securely into. It kept it out of the way, which was good for when he was sleeping or working. However he didn't normally use it all the time as he didn't need to. But seeing as he was still getting over illness he would rather be safe and keep breathing that have major problems because he wasn't breathing properly.

Today there had been a constant stream of patients both new and ones he had seen before. Next was another new patient, but first he had time for a cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat as he typed up notes and caught up on paperwork.

When it was time for the next patient he took one last sip of his coffee before heading out to the reception for his next patient.

Lately, Ana was having some neck issues right before the Christmas season. She felt like she was getting splitting headaches all the time with the pain. She decided on getting to the hospital for a Dr Appointment with an orthopedic specialist. They had suggested some physical therapy for a month to cool down the headaches. Ana had never gone to this place before, but it was just something she had to get rid of this year. With all the stress from the previous months it was starting to get to her. She had to have a happier Christmas. She didn’t want to be a Debbie downer.

“That’s me….Be right up,” she commented to the physician that was calling her name. Right as soon as she looked up she met his eyes and smiled. She was already sitting around in the waiting room by the time she filled out all the paper work previously. She didn’t think that medical insurance would be expensive at all, but the town had decent insurance for someone like her. She only paid $300 for one person. Since she wasn’t married or with anyone that shared her insurance it wasn’t so expensive. Ana really wanted to find someone to be with not just because of their insurance would be cheaper.

Meeting up with him she blushed slightly and waved. “Just call me Ana….” she answered him and hoped that he would be ok with that.

Pierre waited patiently while she got ready to come over, smile on his face. "No problem Ana, my name is Pierre." His accent would give him away straight away as foreign. Certainly living the the USA for several months hadn't altered his accent in any way, it had still stayed a rather prominent Swiss accent. So much so that people always seemed to ask him where he was from, but he didn't mind to much. It was the people who wanted to know all the details about why he was here that annoyed him.

He didn't know what Ana would be like, but she seemed polite enough, so it would be good if she would be an good patient, someone he could get along with. Not all of his patients were like that, but he always did his best not to show it. When he was working he was always careful to keep everything professional.

However he did like to keep things slightly more relaxed, friendly. He wanted his patients to feel comfortable in his room, comfortable that he would do his best to help what ever problem they had while not doing anything inappropriate.

Despite how he wore the control box for his diaphram pacer under his shirt on his waist it was still noticeable. Not everyone said anything, but there was always someone who had to point it out and ask what it was. Of course, he didn't really mind explaining why. For him, it was just easier to keep it out of the way when he was working, rather than having it hanging off his belt.

Pierre led her over to his room, standing aside for her to enter before shutting the door behind them. Taking a seat he looked over at her after taking a glance at her paperwork to remind himself of why she was seeing him.

"I see you have been having headaches. Can you tell me a little more about them? Have you been having them long, or are they something more recent?"

“Yes, I have been having some headaches here and there. But it’s probably because of a lot of tension, right?” Ana replied with a small smile, she noticed what he was doing to his side since she was observant with things. She wouldn’t ask. Ana was just observant. “No not really, maybe a few weeks or so?” she answered again and trying not to interject in the conversation since he was the one helping her. Her eyes grazed over him and she looked up and met his eyes.

“Sorry…That was a bad habit of mine. I don’t do that often,” she giggled slightly as she took at seat in the room that he had taken her too. While he did his thing looking over the paper work. “I don’t suppose that that’s a long time for having splitting headaches? Or could that be a long time?” she wondered as she fiddled with her hands and comfortable sat down on the chair. She wasn’t sure what he would do to her. Knowing that he may have to give her some stretches and some massages every week.

“I am sorry, I am rambling…..How are you today?” she asked this time as she was acting as if she was a therapist. Therapist really know their stuff. Ana had gone to therapy a few times in the past over some issues but that was all that she needed. She just figured to ask how he was doing because he seemed a bit tired.

Most of the time when he dealt with people who were having headaches it was due to tension of some sort, but not always. There was a whole lot of reasons why they could be happening. He wanted to try and figure out whey they were happening, so that something could be put in place to stop them. Maybe it was something to do with her job, or a new hobby she had taken up recently.

"Yes it can but, but not always, there are lots of reasons why you can get headaches. Have you changed anything in your lifestyle recently that could be causing them? New job, doing something different, not drinking enough or eating well? No underlying health issues that could be causing them?" Half the time people had tension because they spent a lot of time looking down at a screen of various sorts, which caused not only tightness but wasn't good for the spine.

He saw her graze over him, but hadn't been going to say or do anything about it until she brought it up. Part of him didn't like it and part of him did. He had never been the type to flirt unless he absolutely knew and trusted the other person enough to do so, but there was no one like that at the moment.

"Headaches can come on quite quickly. Some people might only have them for a few days or weeks, while other people can put up with them for years. The imporant thing is that you are here, so we can try and work out why you are having them, and try to stop them from happening again."

Seeing as she was paying to see him, he didn't expect her to ask how he was. Usually people in these sort so situations wanted to talk about themselves and get him to help them, and he was happy to do that. After all, he was happier talking about other people rather than himself. If he spoke about himself, topics that he didn't want to talk about always came up.

"Not to bad actually. I have been away sick over the past week with a case of the flu that turned into pneumonia, but i'm feeling a lot better today." He had plenty of cases of pneumonia in the past, but they had been far more common when he still had a tracheotomy. The diaphram pacer was a lot better because it helped him breath normally, but he still got cases of pneumonia every now and them.

"Do you notice that you get your headaches after doing a particular activity or at a particular time of the day, or are they completely random?"

“Ah I see, well I hope you feel better….” she stated to him as she hoped that things will be ok for his side. “I know how bad Pneumonia can be. I think I had it once when I was a kid, but other than that I learned to be careful, but it can be deadly too….” she answered as she tried to be a little less prying into his life. While she relaxed a bit, she wanted to just see what she can talk about, so she could stay calm.

“Oh that’s great though, you shouldn’t be working too long tonight…..” she said as she wanted to help aide him and help him feel better. Maybe see if he wanted some tea or homemade soup. She did love to cook and help people.

“How about this…..after today I can help treat you after you treat me. I can make you a homemade chicken soup and some good tea?” she offered as she wondered but she made it subtle enough that she hoped he would say yes.

“Hmm well its when I lay down or bring my head up. I don’t know. It’s hard to tell. It’s just a lot of stress, and anxiety that I have build up….” she answered his questions hopefully it was a convenient answer with the pain she has been having.

There was so much stress going in the past few months that it builds up everything, but it will eventually melt away. She was sure of that.

One of the things about Pierre's breathing condition was that he was naturally more susceptible to Pneumonia, so he had plenty of experience with it in the past. Thankfully getting a diaphragm pacer and moving away from a Tracheotomy and positive pressure ventilation had greatly reduced the number of times he got it. He had gotten a particularly bad case of Pneumonia just last year after that attack, which he had figured out was because the implanted receivers for his diaphragm pacer had been damaged, and while they had been replaced quickly he had been forced to use mask ventilation for a while until he healed properly.

"I know how bad it can be, i have a breathing condition which leaves me quite susceptible to Pneumonia. I have had it a lot, but had quite a nasty case last year, which was really Ventilator-associated pneumonia. The receivers for my diaphragm pacer were damaged, and I had to wait until I healed enough from the operation to replace them before I could use it again, so I had to use my mask ventilator at night, which made me catch Pneumonia, so I had to stay on the damn thing during the day for a while as well." He had never liked mask ventilation, however he always had one with him just in case. Sometimes he needed it, which was important seeing as he couldn't breath when he was sleeping without something.

Pierre honestly didn't quite know what to say when she offered to make him some homemade chicken soup and tea. Her offer sounded lovely, don't get him wrong, but he didn't know if he wanted to go into some strangers home for soup, even if it did sound nice. Trust was the main issue, but it wasn't anything personal.

However he didn't want to offend her by refusing. It put him right into a dilemma that he hated. He knew he should make more of an effort to meet people, but all those years of abuse and that attack last year left him unable to trust anyone, and he got so worried about what they might do or how they would let him down or hurt him he was constantly on edge. Besides, going to a more informal setting probably meant she was going to ask personal questions, which Pierre never liked. He hated talking about his childhood, because he had no good memories from it, and he also couldn't say that either because people wanted to know why.

"While that does sound lovely, honestly I don't want to intrude." He didn't want to just say that he didn't want to go as he thought that would be quite rude, and the last thing he wanted to do was to hurt her feelings. "Besides I have a few errands to run, and I have to visit a specialist in New York later in the week, I need to prepare for that."

He was relieved when the conversation turned back to her problems because that was a far more comfortable topic for him.

As she spoke he took a few notes, more questions popping up into his head.

"On a scale of one to ten, where one is barely noticeable, and ten is the worst pain you have every experienced, how would you rate the pain from your headaches? Can you tell if they come on suddenly or gradually? No nausea or vomiting?" He didn't think her headaches were due to a brain tumor, but it never hurt to be to careful, and he wanted to rule that possibility out.

"Where about would you say the headaches are located? Are they around an eye, more down towards the neck, or does your head feel like their is a tight band wrapped around it?" If she had been referred then another doctor had likely worked out that it was simply a tension headache, but he wanted to ask the questions and make sure himself.

But stress and anxiety wouldn't help either. He might give her a few exercised which could help with that later.

Ana listened to him and raised an eyebrow when he mentioned that he couldn’t. “Oh? It’s ok then. Not a big deal for me actually. I don’t mind. Plus, I am off tomorrow…..” she said to him and hoped that could persuade him a little bit easier. She didn’t think she should push or pry into his life anymore then she should, but it was still hard for her to get out there. Not many people around were easy to talk too. It was a bit hard sometimes making new friends in a small town even though they were fun to live in. Places like these had to take and then gradually get to know the other person.

“I am sorry if I seemed a little forward, but these days it’s just hard to meet people around here. I try to offer something to someone and they sound like I am crazy…..” she sighed as she didn’t want to sound like a downer suddenly. Though, he did sound really nice, just maybe she should be careful too and not always accept people right off the bat. ‘Maybe other people were crazy in this town.’ While she relaxed more she felt a bit quiet that she didn’t really do much of the talking since she was just replying to what he was asking her about her neck pain.

“Sort of, like it feels a lot of tension is in the back of my head and it just kills me sometimes and I can’t sleep at times….” she added which was true. There were times when she just laid in bed and didn’t move. It was possible but she did have a little bit of insomnia.

Her offer might be innocent and full of good intentions, and the last thing that Pierre wanted to do was to hurt her by saying no, but he wasn't sure he could say yes either. While he always made an effort to appear friendly, he had trouble when things became personal. Because that was when trust came into it, and he had trouble with trust. If she had wanted to do something in a public area he probably would have been more willing to agree, even though he would still have been reluctant to do something with a client of his. But her offer of home made and tea sounded like she wanted him to come around to her place, and he simply didn't know if he could do that. Going into a basic stranger's home? It wasn't anything about her, he he was always cautious about going into people's homes if he didn't know them well. He wanted to feel safe.

But now he felt bad for turning her down. So maybe clarifying her offer a bit might help things a little bit. "Did you mean going back to your house, or somewhere else? Because as I am your physical therapist i'm not sure that would be appropriate."

He certainly didn't think she was crazy, he certainly did appreciate her kind offer. She was a little forward, but he didn't mind that either. In fact, he didn't really think that it was her that was the problem but him. His trust issues as always. But he did think that she seemed nice, and wanted to reassure her a little bit. "I don't think that you are crazy at all, and I think that being a bit forward is a good thing. You seem like quite a nice person."

He nodded as she spoke, taking notes as she did so. He asked a few more questions and got her to do a few movements as well. "Okay, I think the best thing to do now would be for me to work on your neck." He stood up as he did so, moving to place a disposable cover on the face cradle, before getting a clean towel out and laying it on the bed.

"If you could take your shirt off so I can work better that would be good, but you can leave your bra on. The towel is to cover yourself, so make yourself comfortable and I will be back shortly." He let himself out, shutting the door behind him and waiting an appropriate time before knocking on the door. "Is it okay for me to come in?"

OOC: It's okay, i'm glad that you are feeling better smile.gif

It was still under the impression that he was a little nervous going over to her place straight off the bat. Yea, it could seem odd but she thought they could become friends. Maybe gradually start a light friendship. She didn’t really know anyone else in any other positions of employment. “I completely understand Mr……..Pierre…..” she answered him in a sweetest tone possible, but she was a little flirtatious too. Ana was such a flirt that she didn’t like the way she flirted. It was too noticeable at times so she had to be a bit more delicate and less noticeable. Ana didn’t want to blush at the fact that he just complimented her on her niceness. Was that even a word? Niceness. Anastasia smiled at him and nodded.

“Ok…….” she acknowledged to him but was a little confused as to why he wanted her shirt off to reveal a sports bra. Or she thought she had a sports bra? Then again it was a normal procedure for this. She would have to wear a possible robe if she were to disrobe fully. They were in a fully closed room and he had stepped out for a brief minute after he had said, "If you could take your shirt off so I can work better that would be good, but you can leave your bra on. The towel is to cover yourself, so make yourself comfortable and I will be back shortly.” with a small nod again she bit her lip and waited till he was outside. She was a little shy doing this now because with male dr.’s she could hardly trust them.

She heard him ask through the door if it was ok to come back in, she called out as she had seen him close the door before he left. “Yes, it’s ok. I think my neck is so stiff……It hurts. It could be all the muscle tension as I said before….but you never know…….” she answered as she kept still on the bed now that she moved to a different spot in the room. Laying on her stomach she relaxed on the plastic cover on top. “Well if we go somewhere else, it would kind of be like a date…..But then again it’s up to you….How you see this…” Ana replied quietly. She wouldn’t think it was a date since they were still getting to know one another.

Flirting always made Pierre a little uncomfortable inside. He wasn't nearly comfortable enough to even think about flirting back, he didn't really like doing so. The only time he would be interested in flirting was if he was in a relationship and he knew the other person really wanted him to, but that wasn't likely to happen again anytime soon. Hell, it had taken him until he was twenty-seven to trust someone enough to start dating, and that had been broken completely last year the day after his twenty-ninth birthday, so he wasn't even sure if he could ever bring himself to trust someone like that again. He didn't know if that was just something she did to everyone or it was because she liked him. Either way, he was going to remain professional and not acknowledge it.

Pierre had female patients who hadn't wanted to take their top off when he wanted them to, and even though it would make his job a lot harder he would respect that decision. He wasn't going to overstep his boundaries and take advantage of them in any way, keeping his touches nothing but professional and never straying anywhere he shouldn't be. But she seemed happy enough to do what he wanted, so he left and gave her plenty of time, asking if it was okay before he came back in.

As he walked back in and shut the door his gaze automatically went over her upper body, looking at how she was lying on the bed. Sometimes the way people lay could point to something, and he never wanted to miss anything.

"That's not good, but you are in the right place, so hopefully I can help and your neck will feel a lot better." He automatically used some hand sanitizer on his hands before he moved over to her. Before he touched he spoke, letting her know what he was going to do. For now he was just searching for those tense areas so that he could find out the best way of helping her.

A date? That thought made him completely uncomfortable. Certainly if they did go somewhere else he wouldn't see it as a date, maybe two people who know one another going out on a friendly outing. Nothing more. Certainly the idea of dating anyone freaked him out a little bit, again mainly due to those trust issues. But he wasn't going to show her that, even if she could figure out the whole idea made him uncomfortable.

"I don't think so, it would be more a friendly sort of thing." He never knew what might happen in the future however. In all honesty he would love to have a partner of some sort, someone he could trust and talk to, who would be there for him, but he both wasn't looking and was highly skeptical that someone like that actually existed.

"You are quite tight around your neck."

While she could feel the tension in her neck already swelling up as she laid there on the table cot. Anastasia made herself as comfortable as possible before she felt his hands on her neck. They were hard like a mans hands should be. "You are quite tight around your neck." She relaxed her arms in front of her face as she leaned her head forward into the tiny hole.

“Yea…it is. Sorry, it’s just, I don’t know how to relax….” she sighed as she bit her lip while he continued to massage her. “I told you I really was….” she answered him and smiled through the hole. It was a bit uncomfortable with her head down but hey she had to do what he told her to do.

“You can go hard or soft, it doesn’t matter to me….” with the pressure it was usually medium with the way she liked it from some masseuse’s so she would have to wait and see what he would do for her. “What’s your day like tomorrow?” she asked as she wanted to calm herself down and relax the tension.

“We can always talk about random things right now, so I can try to keep calm….” she suggested as she hoped that it wouldn’t bother him. There were plenty of things that could keep her calm.

"Before you leave, i can show you a few exercises which can help." Pierre ventured as he focused on his task. She certainly was quite tense and he was finding plenty of spots that needed working on, and as he was doing so he was thinking of exercises that might help. He really wanted to find out why exactly she was getting tense like this so that he could stop it from happening.

She wasn't worried about pressure, which made it a little bit easier. Still, he was keeping the pressure firm but not to hard. The last thing he wanted to do was to go to hard and for her to end up worse than she had come in. "OKay, but let me know if the pressure is to hard."

Talking about what his day would be like tomorrow was a relatively easy topic. "I'm working again tomorrow, so i will be here keeping myself busy, but when I have finished I want to clean my fish tanks. Plus I have an appointment with a specalist in New York later in the week, so I need to make sure I have everything that I need." He had medical insurance, which was essential for him because of his breathing condition. Because it came from his central nervous system, other things that came from there like blood pressure and body temperature regulation could fail. It also left him more suceptible to other conditions, and hosptial visits were always a regular occurance.

Moving countries had made things more difficult, and it had actually taken him a while to work things out and find specialists that he needed to be under the care of. If he hadn't of been able to figure that out he wouldn't have been able to come, so he was glad that he had been able to work it out.

"How about you, what do you have planned for tomorrow?"

Anastasia was feeling more relaxed now after she decided to let him press on her body a little tougher than before. “Oh, I would like that,” she answered as she lifted herself up as he continued on her she put her arms underneath her chin. It was pretty relaxing now and she almost moaned because of the toughness he gave her. “Sorry, god that was so embarrassing,” she let out a little laugh as she wondered if he had heard her slight moan. It would’ve been embarrassing for anyone. “Oh wow, that’s great….A specialist in New York? You go to New York often?” she asked him as she changed the subject and wondered to see how many times he had gone.

“Nope, I am off tomorrow. I don’t have too much, just might try some new recipes for work but other than that…..nothing really…” she added as she kept her eyes closed. “Just keep doing the same pressure that you are doing right now….It’s good. Very good. My mind is very distracted, and it’s keeping me calm…….” Ana replied and sighed as she tried to think that it was just as relaxing with each pressure point on her neck.

Sometimes it was amusing to hear the sound that people made when he was working on them. Not that he ever showed it, or mentioned it. Sometimes he had a little chuckle in his head but his face stayed the same. He was good at keeping a calm face, not showing emotions that he didn't want to be seen. Certainly finding a patient amusing wasn't something he wanted to participate in, even if lots of other medical professionals did.

"I flew into New York, but I haven't been back since. I have a number of medical professionals I need to see, and not all of them live conveniently nearby." That was just a downside of his medical condition. Always had been, always would be. The area that controled breathing also controlled other things like body temperature and blood pressure, and it also meant he was succeptible to heart problems, and while he had never had heart problems apart from a heart murmer when he had been born, it still needed to be monitored.

Pierre enjoyed his work, so it didn't really bother him when he was working. He never complained about hours, and was always happy to pick up more when he could to help someone else out. "Recipes, do you work with food? A chef of some sort?" He voice sounded a little distracted, but he was listening even if he was concentrating more on working on her, searching out for each pressure point and working to release it.

It was a careful balance, he wanted to help her and for her to feel better, but he didn't want her to leave feeling worse or be sore for days afterwards. "That's always good to hear. I do a little bit of baking myself at home, mainly bread because I have yet to find a good loaf of dark rye bread. I brought a loaf from the Plum Street Bakery the other day and it was quite tasty though."
