Though there was no doubt that Ambrosia was known as the restaurant to go to to impress someone, Benjamin Dalton came through the door with no one at his side and reassured the maitre d that the reservation was correct and that it was only a party of one. It was true that there were times that reservations under his name would have more than on individual, but tonight he was flying solo. After reassuring that he was alone tonight, Benjamin was seated at a small table at the side of the restaurant. He nodded a thank you before unbuttoning his jacket and taking a seat. He slipped off his glasses and put them into his jacket pocket as his eyes scanned the restaurant.

Looking around, he could spot who the the women who were the servers and couldn't help but wonder which of them was going to be heading to his table. There was a petite blonde that caught his eye and he noticed that she was tending other tables near where he was seated. It appeared that she would be coming to his table shortly. There was no denying that she was an attractive woman, but since Benjamin was dining alone tonight there was certainly nothing wrong with getting to enjoy the view while he was there.

Benjamin took a moment to glance over the menu, unsure what he was going to have tonight. He knew that he was going to have Wild Turkey on the rocks to drink. He was usually able to determine what he was going to drink fairly quickly. There were certain things that took almost no time to decide and that is simply because of the fact that he is a man who knows what he wants. It always seems natural for him to follow those desires. Admittedly, that sometimes led to some of the issues in his life as well, but that didn't seem like a concern now as he waited and occasionally scanned the menu.

It had been kind of a slow day at the restaurant, and Riley was glad it was nearing the end of her shift. Just another hour and she’d be set free. Not that she disliked the slower days, it did give her and the other employees a bit of breathing room but it also meant that the day tended to move slower. She was ready to go home and change into her pajamas and snuggles with her doggies on the couch. Oh, or maybe she’d take a bubble bath, that sounded wonderful after a long day on her feet.

Clearing the plates away from a table in her section, she noticed as the maitre d’ seated a familiar gentleman at a different table in her area over by the window. It was Benjamin Dalton, she didn’t know too much about the man, but she enjoy his quip and he usually tipped really well. She leaned forward, reaching further across the table to grab a glass before taking the gathered dishes to the kitchen.

Coming out of the swinging doors just a couple minutes later. She was dressed in her uniform that consisted of a white long-sleeve buttoned shirt, a black pin-striped skirt that stopped just above her knees, and a black half apron. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a half pony-tail, while a pair black flats graced her feet.

She approached his table with a toothy smile, stopping beside him she greeted him warmly, ”Mr. Dalton, how nice to see you again. How are you?” Her blue eyes met his for a moment before she looked at the menu in his hands. ”Would you like to start with a drink while you decide on what to eat?” she asked looking back at him, remembering he usually liked to order some sort of whiskey to sip on.

As the server approached him, his trademark smirk couldn't seem to help from crossing his features. He was glad that it was a slower day because it meant that there weren't dozens upon dozens of people talking. Instead, he was able to enjoy a peaceful dinner, as long as he didn't do anything to keep it from staying that way. When he heard the server mention him by name as he approached he realized that he should really start paying attention to the names of the servers. He had seen her before and he recognized her, but her name was at a loss to him. At least he hoped that would only be temporary. It wouldn't do any good for him to make a fool of himself.

"I'm doing pretty well right now. Things can always get better though." He said with a wink. When she asked if he wanted a drink, he nodded with a smile. "Certainly. I'll take a Wild Turkey on the rocks." If the woman remembered his name, he wouldn't be surprised if she remembered what he usually drank as well. Sometimes he switched it up from time to time though so it wasn't necessarily as easy to state than his name.

After telling her what he would take to drink, he glanced at the menu one last time before folding it down onto the table in from of himself. He figured that he would get the steak dinner since he was actually fairly simple when it came to food choices. He wasn't that picky and wouldn't usually decline unless someone was insisting on some sort of terrible fast food. He waited for her to return with his drink and by then he was sure that he would decide 100% what it was that he wanted to eat.

Of course she would remember his name. It was only natural to remember the people’s names that tipped you well, right? Plus it didn’t hurt he was good looking, and had become somewhat of a regular to the restaurant, so that was all the more reason she would remember him. Not that she would ever say that to him. She didn’t want to come off as unprofessional. Or make things awkward if he shot her down.

She asked him how he was doing and what he would like to drink. Smiling at him as she listened to his reply and he winked at her. ”It certainly can.” she concurred. Things could always get worse too but she wasn’t going to say that or dwell on that negativity. Focus shifting when he told her what he would like to drink. She did remember that he typically got a whiskey drink, but the exact name of the few he typically rotated between escaped her. ”Of course, I’ll go put that in with the bartender and give you a few minutes to peruse the menu.” She said politely with a small, but still warm smile before she turned on her heel and walked away, a bit of extra sway in her hips.

Returning a few minutes later, with his drink in hand. Placing it down on the table in front of him she smiled once more at him. ”Here you are, one Wild Turkey.” She noticed that his menu was closed and lying on the table so she guessed he had decided what he would like to eat. Getting out her notepad and pen, she held the writing utensil in her right hand. Catching his eyes, she smirked. ”So, what can I get cha?” A little of her personality shining through in the way she asked him.

Had Benjamin taken the time to think about it, he really shouldn't have been surprised by the fact that she remembered who he was. Truthfully, he did show up there enough that he wouldn't be surprised if most of the servers knew who he was just by the pure number of times that he had been there.

It was likely for the best that Riley hadn't mentioned the fact that things could get worse. There was no doubt that that was something that Benjamin was aware of since there were times that happened in his own life, even though he wasn't likely to admit that they were often due to his own doing. It wasn't a topic he was one to dwell on and certainly wasn't something he was wanting to think about or discuss. Positivity was definitely the way to go with him. At least to keep things simple anyways. Benjamin nodded as she said that he would put his drink in with the bartender and then watched as she turned from the table and made her way to do so. He wasn't always the most discreet man, but it wasn't as though he expected her to notice since she was walking away. When she arrived at the bar, he briefly heard the bartender address her by name and, unsurprisingly, realized that he had heard her name before even though that particular part of who she was had accidentally slipped his mind.

While waiting for his drink, he closed the menu and laid it flat on the table. An idea ran through his head as he watched her return with his drink and a smile on her features. Was it the best idea? Well that was certainly up for debate, but whether or not he always thought things through like he should was too. The smirk on her features only seem to encourage him. "That depends on exactly what you're referring to." He said in an almost teasing, playful fashion. "I can think of two things. One of which depends on the other." He looked up to Riley, momentarily examining her light blue eyes.

A few seconds past until Benjamin spoke again, as though he were taking time to truly pull in her features since usually the staff just came and went while he was there without him paying as much attention as he could. Tonight, his attention was focused though. It could be said he looked like a man on a mission and, well, that's because he now decided he was. "I could settle with the steak dinner, medium, but the real question is what are your plans once you're out of here tonight?" There was no faulter in his expression as he almost curiously watched the blonde standing in front of him for her response.

Riley was not disillusioned, she knew she was pretty and most men (probably some women too) found her attractive, but that didn’t mean she used it to her advantage to gets things she wanted or was conceited about her looks. But, if she had known Benjamin was watching her walk away it would not have surprised her. She did put a bit of extra sway in her hips after all. And she wouldn’t have minded either if she had known.

Returning soon thereafter with his drink, she placed it careful down on the table in front of him before moving on to the next matter of business: his dinner order. Or well, that was what she had meant when she asked him what she could get him. "That depends on exactly what you're referring to." He teased and she politely snickered at his comment. Before she could decide if she should clarify or play along he remarked, "I can think of two things. One of which depends on the other." His choice of phrase made her curious and a bit confused, an intrigued brow rose on her face as she looked down at him. ”Oh?” she questioned, trying to prompt him further.

Thankfully, or perhaps not, she didn’t have to wait long for his answer. The first part was easy, it was his dinner order; that was normal. The second half not so much. She was pretty sure by the way he said it he wasn’t just making polite conversation, he was asking her out. Which really shouldn’t have come as a surprise to her based on their interactions the last few times he’s come into the restaurant, but it did. Not that she hadn’t been hit on before while working, but the last thing she thought she’d be leaving with tonight was a date.

She stared down at him for a long couple seconds, her blue eyes boring into his brown eyes. Searching for something, anything in his expression to tell her he wasn’t serious. But he did not falter. He was serious.

Another moment passed and her brain caught up with her, ”The meal shouldn’t be a problem,” she commented slyly, jotting it down on her notepad, her eyes purposely watching the pen scribble across the page instead of looking at him. Her smirk returned to her lips as she decided to play with him a bit in regards to the possible date. ”As for my plans, I’m not sure, I was thinking about going home and taking a nice hot bath.” Her eyes now flicked up to meet his again. Yeah she was taunting him a bit with the image. ”Why? Did you have a better offer?” she finally got to the point, asking him out right. A flirty smirk playing at her features as she watched him.

Part of Benjamin would almost be surprised that the blonde wasn't one who used her looks to obtain something that she wanted. It wasn't a thought that was meant to be against her, though it would certainly seem that way, but it had to do with the fact that he spent so many years in the Los Angeles and Hollywood area. That was how so many attractive women there just seemed to act. Maybe his profession and the women's hopes had something to do with it, but he never truly dwelled on that. It was for the best that she wouldn't mind had she caught him watching her since he wasn't a man who was going to be shy about the fact that he was doing it.

If there was something that he had the intention of saying, chances were that he wasn't going to be stopped unless someone truly attempted to keep the words from leaving his mouth. It would surprise him to find out that people asking her out wasn't something that was normal. She was attractive and seemed like a rather pleasant person to be around, though that may have just been because it was a necessity for her job, so trying to get some time with her seemed like something others would try for. Or maybe they didn't have the nerve that he did to go for it. Who knows.

While she looked to him to see if there was any clue that he wasn't serious, his gaze remained looking at her. There was no reason for him to falter as he had asked the question because that was exactly what he intended to do. What she would say though, he couldn't say that he was sure yet. He was used to, for many years, woman accepting his advances, but Lochland wasn't the same place he had spent so many years. He was still some what adjusting to how some things worked in this city.

He had no question that the meal wouldn't be a problem, especially since his order was usually rather close to the same thing, but that wasn't what he was interested in hearing her talking about. Then she mentioned going home and taking a hot bath. "Well that does sound like something that women are known to like to go and do, but I can't imagine that's the best way to spend a night when there are other options." The other option clearly being to take him up on his offer. "I suppose that depends what else you may be wanting to do. Chances are I do though." He replied with another smirk as he waited to see if she would take him up on his offer.

What he would decide they should do was still up in the air. Going out for drinks was always the easiest idea. He hadn't explored Lochland as fully as he would like to at this point either. He'd have to see what she decided and go from there.

"Well that does sound like something that women are known to like to go and do, but I can't imagine that's the best way to spend a night when there are other options." Oh really now? Because frankly, she loved a good bubble bath, especially paired with some wine and music. It was a great treat that didn’t usually cost her too much, and it was a fabulous way to relax. Intrigued by his retort she couldn’t help but ask him if he had a better offer though, and waited for his answer. "I suppose that depends what else you may be wanting to do. Chances are I do though." Right now, after having been on her feet pretty much the entire last 8 hours, relaxing in a nice bath sounded fantastic to her and was the most appealing thing she could think of at the moment. But there was no way in hell she was going to invite him back to her place for that. Dinner was sort of off the table since he was going to be eating here shortly. Regardless of all that though, she was curious about him, and therefore felt rather compelled to accept his offer.

She couldn’t let him off that easy though. He was suppose to be the one with the idea of what they would do, not her.”Well, I’m not sure. I did kind of have my heart set on a bubble bath, but if you think you have a better idea I’m willing to hear you out.” She smirked at him. Plus, she honestly had no idea what she felt like going to do. Maybe drinks? Drinks were easy. What day was it? Thursday? Was there anything going in town on Thursdays? … Farmers Market was on Thursday nights! That required more walking but she wouldn’t be totally against it, they usually had some local band playing there for the night too. It could be fun.

There was also karaoke at The Rose, or wait, was that on Tuesdays? Well they could still go there for drinks. Actually, now that she thought about it, she was pretty sure there was a comedy show going on there tonight. Hmm...

She’d wait to see what his suggestions were before bringing up her own though. He was the one asking her out after all.
