Only time would tell to see if they actually stuck to their plan of working on the communication side of things. But she was willing to give him a chance, he seemed to be making enough effort for her already if this birthday breakfast was anything to go by. But communication was important and without that she didn't see how this relationship was possibly going to progress any further. "At least we both agree on that then" she said softly, hoping they were headed in the right direction now.

Zoe had a feeling he wouldn't like being called a 'puppy', but really she thought that it was a good way to describe him. He was lovable when he wanted to be, it was when he went all icy cold and distant that it frustrated her. And he'd been that way more often than not lately. She rolled her eyes at him turning his nose up at the puppy comment, "Mehh... you should take it as a compliment. You get more man points for being all sweet and cute" she smirked at him, it was true, it made him more of a man if he treated her right and did nice things for her. She knew she'd been right about him putting up an act because he was afraid of getting close to people, he even went so far to admitting it. But she wasn't going to go into that anymore, mostly from fear of him getting annoyed. That wasn't what she wanted to happen today. Besides, she got the impression he wanted to change the subject which was fair enough. "They're my favourite. Best birthday breakfast ever" she smiled at him, "You put a lot of thought into this" she said as she reached for her coffee mug again, bringing it to her lips.

He certainly wasn't always this sweet. He supposed it depended who he was around. He was a different person with his family and the closest people in his life as opposed to when he was around strangers or people he didn't really know very well. It took him a long time before he felt comfortable enough to really be himself around someone. Zoe had to realise that, he hadn't exactly been quite so nice to her the first time they'd met. Though under the circumstances he wasn't sure that came as such a surprise, finding out she was his worst enemy's sister had made him be a bit cold towards her at first. "If you say so" he grinned, maybe he would try to do nice things more often, it wasn't like it had to cost anything.

Kieran was glad that she seemed to appreciate his efforts, it had taken him a while to set this all up whilst he had a two year old under his feet. It was a wonder he got anything done sometimes! "Yeah... I don't usually make this much effort for breakfast, count yourself lucky" he laughed, usually he had to try and eat as quick as possible so he could tend to Grace. "I only just about got it ready in time" he said, though he was definitely glad that he had got there in the end. It wouldn't have been the same if she'd turned up before he'd managed to finish getting everything ready. He stayed quiet for a bit as he continued to eat, "So, I thought we could go out for a drive... find somewhere nice for a walk and get lunch somewhere?" he suggested, they'd not made any specific plans as such and sometimes that was just the best way.

Zoe laughed at him, "To be fair I don't think many of us usually have the time to go to this much effort in the morning" she grinned, she was usually always in a rush, by the time she got dressed, did her makeup and hair for the day, she only just about had time to rush her breakfast before she had to head out the door to go to work. "And you managed it all with this little one..." she smiled as she looked down at Grace for a moment before looking back at Kieran again. "You sure you're not Superman?" she chuckled slightly, she did wonder how he juggled it all on his own sometimes but she certainly admired him for being able to do it.

She had no idea what the plan was for today, but whatever they did she didn't really mind, it meant she got to spend quality time with him and Grace. That was important to her, especially when she felt like they'd barely really seen each other lately. They didn't need to do anything fancy so she was quite pleased when he brought up the plan for the day. It sounded like a nice chilled day and she couldn't complain about that. "That sounds lovely" she smiled, sometimes the best days were the ones where you didn't have much of a plan and ended up somewhere unexpected. "Honestly, I don't mind what we do as long as I get to spend time with you" she said, she wouldn't even be that fussed if they just stayed in all day. "And Grace..." she added, because she was just as important.
