"Lets all go for a few drinks tonight!" Ugh. Rachel always dreaded those words. She liked her co-workers enough, but did she really want to spend time with them outside of work as well? Before she could come up with some excuse not to join in, she found herself nodding her head and agreeing to it. Honestly, the idea of socialising and drinking didn't exactly excite her. Her idea of a fun night was staying in watching Netflix or reading a good book. But she'd only been in town for a few months and was still new so she didn't want to come across as being a bit of a bore. It was her chance to meet new people, something she knew she needed to do. She'd make herself do it no matter how much she didn't really enjoy going from one bar to the next.

Librarians weren't supposed to go out and get drunk! Apparently the ones she worked with had a wild side which greatly amused her. Rachel had a feeling she was going to be the only sober one. She didn't mind the odd drink, wine usually, but excessive drinking was not for her - partly through choice but also due to some health reasons. Fainting and dizzy spells due to low blood pressure was bad enough, she didn't need to be passing out due to alcohol consumption as well.

One hour in and this wasn't turning out to be a good idea. Not because of the company, although she was rather on the quiet side in groups of people. No, now she remembered why she didn't do nights out like this. The standing around in hot bars that were crowded with people... she became overheated and felt dizzy. And it was nothing to do with the half a glass of wine she'd drunk. She needed to get out of this bar into the fresh air before she collapsed in front of everyone. So she made her excuses, told her co-workers she had a headache and needed to leave. Practically stumbling out of the bar she could tell people thought she was drunk. That wasn't the case, her blood pressure had dived and she felt shaky, her hands clamming up as she made it outside into the cool air. Then she had to put her hand against the wall to stop herself from falling, everything around her had become a bit of a blur. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as she desperately tried not to keel over.

Kieran had had a fairly busy day work wise and was finishing it with a meeting with a client in a local bar. It was just an informal meeting to talk through an upcoming photoshoot and to discuss his prices. The client had left happy and so had he, the promise of work always excited him. It wasn't always easy working for yourself, but he never seemed to be short of work which was the main thing.

With the meeting over he decided to stroll back home casually, it was a warm evening and he felt a little hot wearing a shirt and tie. He loosened the tie as he walked out of the bar, his laptop bag over one shoulder as he headed outside. He had the rest of the night to himself now since Grace was staying at his mother's for the night. A child free night. The possibilities were endless but all he really fancied doing was going home and just catching up on some television. Yes, his life was so rock 'n' roll these days, but he was okay with that. Walking past groups of youngsters on Main Street with drinks in their hands outside the bars made him realise how that life wasn't for him. It never really had been.

He was walking down the street when he glanced over at one of the trendy bars, one that he usually went to if he was ever out for a drink. There were a few people outside smoking, yet his eyes wandered to the brunette female who was almost doubled over. Too much drink most likely. He frowned when he realised who it was and that he actually knew her. He'd feel terrible if he was just walked off and left her there, whether she'd drank too much or not he couldn't just leave her there on her own. "Rachel?" he called as he rushed to her side, placing a hand on her shoulder gently, trying not to alarm her. "Are you alright?" he asked calmly, it was never nice to see someone struggle and he considered her a friend so of course he was concerned. Drunk or not, she didn't look good and he was worried she was about to collapse. "Do you want to sit down?" he asked, keeping a firm grip on her shoulder just in case she really was about to fall. At least there were a few empty tables outside, if she was able to walk that far anyway.

This was one of the many reasons why she should have turned down the invitation tonight. Since when had she ever enjoyed nights out like this? Hot, stuffy bars crowded with people usually only spelt disaster for her. Not to mention that she just wasn't one for being out in big groups of people anyway. She was far better in a one on one situation where she could just have a deep and meaningful conversation with someone. None of that mindless small talk that she found boring. She'd tried to make an effort tonight, but yet again it had backfired on her.

And now she wondered if she was actually going to make it home without collapsing along the way. How embarrassing. But she'd been in this situation so many times. The feeling would pass in a minute... hopefully. The fresh air would help and she desperately just needed to sit down and close her eyes for a few moments. But even with her hand placed against the wall she could feel herself slipping. Her hearing became muffled and she was starting to see stars when she felt a warm hand on her shoulder. Someone was about to help. Someone that knew her name? A man's voice. It sounded familiar but she couldn't even find the strength to turn to look up at him. "Mhmm..." she mumbled, taking a deep breath as she stumbled, nearly falling against him but she gripped his arm just in time. It may have been slightly more embarrassing had he been a stranger, but she finally managed to look up, blinking a few times until her vision returned to normal. Oh god, it was Kieran. In some ways she was happy to see him because they seemed to get on so well, but under the circumstances she did feel a bit embarrassed. Whatever must he think? She'd just stumbled out of a bar, she knew exactly how this looked. "It's... it's you" she tried to smile, but she could barely function to do anything. "Oh god... yes... sit down. I don't... I don't feel well" she was shaking, she knew that but hand was gripped so tightly on his arm that she probably wasn't going to fall. Besides, he was a strong man, she knew he wouldn't let her.

Working for himself meant he never had to worry about being asked out for drinks with colleagues. There were no leaving parties or Christmas meals to attend and that suited him just fine. He just really didn't enjoy socialising with people, it had been hard enough going on double dates in past relationships. He was sure Zoe could say a thing or two about that. Like how he'd barely said a word the last time they'd gone out with her friends and their boyfriends. Why was he always expected to speak? It wasn't that he was shy. Gosh, far from it, really. But he just preferred to sit, listen and observe than speak his mind in front of a group of people he wasn't all that comfortable with.

He did wonder why Rachel was out here alone, but if she'd not been feeling good then he assumed she'd come outside to get some air. It looked like he'd reached her just in time because he was convinced she was about to collapse, though luckily she seemed to grab his arm just in time and he helped to steady her. "Woahh... you're alright, I've got you" he said, slipping an arm around her waist to keep her supported in case she still felt like fainting. He smiled when she acknowledged him, "Yes. It's me" he chuckled, he really couldn't tell if she'd had too much to drink or not. He didn't like to jump to conclusions, but he'd be surprised if she had. He might not have known her long but she always seemed so classy and elegant in his company. But maybe she had a wild side? He'd not quite established if she was a drinker or not. He had two chairs in sight as he held on to her, hoping she could make it over. "Hold on... nearly there" he said, guiding her slowly to the table, pulling out a chair for her so she could sit down. "You look white as a ghost, Rach. Take a deep breath" he said, pulling the chair beside her and sitting down so he could keep an eye on her. "How much did you drink?" he asked, he didn't mean to imply that she was drunk, but obviously that was how it looked.

It seemed that Kieran had arrived just in time, because otherwise she really would have ended up on the floor and she didn't even want to think about how embarrassing that would have been. Strangers would have rushed to her side and crowded around her which would have only made matters worse. So even though it was slightly embarrassing that Kieran had found her in this state, she was very grateful it was him that had come to the rescue and not someone else. "Thanks" she mumbled as he helped to keep her supported, she could lean on him now he had an arm around her waist. God, probably the most physical contact she'd had from anyone in a while. But under the circumstances she didn't get a chance to feel embarrassed by it.

She could see the chairs in sight and couldn't wait to sit down, she knew she'd feel better once she did because clearly being stood up for long periods of time wasn't really good for her. Thankfully she just about made it to the chair, sitting down and closing her eyes, fanning herself with her hand because she felt so overheated still. Clearly she really didn't look well if he noticed that she looked white, the colour had drained from her face but it would soon reappear once her blood pressure returned to normal. She did what she was told and took a deep breath, though her eyes popped open when he asked how much she'd drank. She knew it. He thought she was drunk. "No!" she shook her head, obviously she could see why he thought she'd had too much to drink and now she feared he wouldn't believe her. "I'm not... I'm not drunk! I didn't... just... no... half a glass of wine... if that" she said, trying to breathe normally but now she was worked up because he thought she was a drunk. She took a deep breath again and closed her eyes, "It's just... some health issues. Nothing serious" she shrugged, sure she had to keep an eye on things but it was nothing that couldn't normally be managed or treated. She just had to be careful. Coming out tonight had been a bad decision, but she'd just wanted to be part of something for once and not be seen like the boring one who didn't want to join in.

The way he saw it, anyone else would have done exactly the same. Or at least they would do if they had any decency and saw a female by herself looking like she was struggling. People could say what they wanted about him, but he wasn't going to turn the other way if he saw someone in trouble. He was a good person at heart even if it didn't always appear that way. So he really thought nothing of helping her, especially when he considered himself to be friendly with Rachel. In fact he'd been meaning to send her a text soon to see if she wanted to do something. He'd just been so busy with work and then had only just returned from a week's vacation with family in Florida. But now he was back home and his schedule wasn't so manic, he'd been hoping he could catch up with Rachel soon anyway. Maybe tonight wasn't the best of times considering she looked like she needed to be in bed, but he wasn't going to walk off and leave her on her own.

She looked shocked when he asked her how much she'd drank, so clearly he should never have asked that. Obviously she was offended. And not drunk either by the sound of it, so he felt a bit bad for having jumped to that conclusion. There could have been many other reasons why she'd stumbled out of the bar, especially if she was just feeling unwell in general. "Okay... sorry... it was wrong of me to assume that" he apologised, hoping he hadn't offended her too much, but he seemed to have a habit of saying the wrong things. He nodded his head at her, "I see" he said, unsure if he should ask what her health issues were because now he really did feel bad and genuinely hoped she was alright. He stayed quiet for a moment whilst she tried to get her breath, "I'm going to get you a glass of water quickly. Stay here... don't go running any marathons whilst I'm gone" he smirked, getting up swiftly and hoping she'd be alright whilst he went to fetch some water. He knew that would most likely help. So he dashed inside and headed straight to the bar, asking for a glass of water. Thankfully there was no queue, but even if there had been he'd have pushed to the front and demanded a glass of water. He came back as quickly as he could, sitting back down beside her and placing the glass on the table in front of her, "Sip from it slowly, okay?" he said, putting his hand on her knee as if to reassure her somehow. He didn't say anything else for a few moments though he left his hand where it was, "I know it's none of my business... and don't feel obliged to tell me, but it's not anything serious is it?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. Because she could have just been trying to make out it was nothing to worry about when it was actually something life threatening. Oh god, he hoped for her sake it wasn't.

Somehow she almost expected Kieran to make a joke out of it or to still not believe that she actually wasn't drunk. Luckily he seemed to quickly realise that she hadn't stumbled out of the bar due to drinking too much. She'd tell him what was wrong if he asked, but clearly he was being too polite right now and probably feeling a bit embarrassed himself for having jumped to a conclusion. She nodded her head when he told her he was going to get her some water, she felt that would probably help, she was already feeling better now she was sat down and didn't have to worry about falling over. "I don't think I'd get very far" she smiled, no she just wanted to sit down for a bit before she had to get up again.

She stayed exactly where she was, running a hand through her brown hair before she started fanning herself again. She'd cooled down a little but she still felt a bit dizzy, maybe the water would help with that once Kieran reappeared. She closed her eyes again but by the time she reopened them, Kieran was back and had placed a glass of water in front of her. She couldn't get to it quick enough, but she took his advice and sipped it slowly, her hand a little shaky as she brought it to her lips. Her heart was still pounding away, but now she wondered if that was due to his hand being on her knee. Not that it made her uncomfortable in any way, in actual fact it felt rather nice and she certainly wasn't about to move it away. She put the glass down and took a deep breath, she could tell he was concerned and that he wasn't just being nosy for the sake of it. "Don't worry, I'm not dying or anything" she managed a small laugh, maybe she was slowly starting to feel a bit better. "And I don't mind you knowing... because it won't be the last time this happens" she shrugged, she was used to feeling this way, usually at the most inconvenient times. "I just have low blood pressure... fainting and dizzy spells aren't uncommon. I guess it was the standing up that got me this time... and it was really hot in there" she said, fanning herself with her hand again but she'd definitely cooled down a bit now. "It's my own fault, I shouldn't have come out tonight" she shrugged and reached for her glass of water again. She hadn't want to come anyway so she should have gone with her gut feeling about it.

Kieran grinned at her remark before he dashed off to get her some water, if she still had a sense of humour then he could only assume that she was already starting to feel better. Although some people could still find a sense of humour when they were on their death bed. Whatever was wrong with her, he only hoped she meant it when she said it wasn't anything serious. Luckily when he got back back to her, she was still there and hadn't fallen off the chair or anything. "Well that's good to know" he chuckled, not that he'd considered it could be something that serious, but you could never know for sure unless someone told you what was really wrong.

He didn't need to call an ambulance or anything and she was already starting to look better so he assumed she was going to be okay. He stayed quiet when she went on to the explain what was wrong, of course it all made sense now. He was no doctor or anything, but most people knew that if your blood pressure was too low it could end up causing problems such as fainting. "Ah, okay... well that makes sense. Standing up too much probably isn't good for you if you get like that" he said, he assumed it was something that could just be managed if she looked after herself but if she felt like it too often then surely that couldn't be good. "Hopefully the feeling will pass soon. Do you have to take any medication?" he asked, only because he was curious about it and also because if they spent more time together then it was best he knew about it. He glanced around for a moment whilst she sipped from her water, and he was yet to remove his hand from her knee. "Are you... here with someone tonight?" he asked, now wondering if she was actually here on a date. He should probably take that hand away if that were the case, but for now he didn't really care and was only trying his best to look after her whilst she was feeling this way.

Rachel shook her head, she probably should have asked to sit down in there, but it had been so packed she'd not even seen any spare seats. She guessed she just shouldn't have come in the first place. "No, especially not in a crowded bar. I knew there was a reason why I rarely go on nights out" she laughed, there were various reasons why she didn't. Unless she was with just one person, then perhaps she could just about tolerate it. Rachel took another sip from her water, he was right that the feeling would soon pass, it just never felt like it would in the moment. She was just lucky she'd sat down when she had because she was sure she'd be on the floor by now. She shook her head when he asked if she had to take any medication, "No, it's just a case of being careful. Not standing up too quickly when I've been lying down for a while... and definitely not standing for long periods of time. Oh and drinking plenty of water" she laughed, she could probably work on that one, she wasn't sure she drank nearly enough. "I've had several tests done over the years, in case there's an underlying medical problem, but they've never found anything. I suppose that's something" she shrugged, smiling slightly. Well... other than general female problems, but she was quite sure he didn't want to know about painful periods. It wasn't really a subject that women particularly liked to discuss, especially not with men. Anyway, things could be a whole lot worse, the minor health issues she had were manageable and paled in comparison to the things some people had to go through.

She was looking down at the hand on her knee, almost fighting the urge to put her hand on top of his. She felt strangely comfortable in his presence and it was a nice feeling, not something she'd felt for a long time. Mainly because she'd distanced herself from men over the past couple of years, not wanting to let her guard down in case they came too close. "I got invited out with some of my co-workers. Yes I know, apparently librarians go on nights out too" she laughed, "It's not really my scene though. I told them I had a headache and left, I just needed to get out of there" she shrugged, maybe she should have just told them the truth, but then it made her look like the boring one who hated socialising. She ran a hand through her hair again, she was definitely feeling better already, "What about you? You look like you've come from a formal interview" she chuckled, reaching over and tugging the end of his tie very lightly. She didn't know where her confidence had just come from, but maybe it was just a sign she felt comfortable with him. And now he was probably about to tell her he'd been on a date, but she'd already seen the laptop bag he was carrying and assumed maybe he'd had some kind of meeting.

To be fair, Kieran wasn't a fan of being in that kind of setting anyway. Surrounded by a ton of people in a bar or a club just made him feel quite anxious. He was sure it was worse the older he got, but maybe it was just a sign he couldn't handle nights out anymore. He nodded his head as Rachel spoke, explaining that she just needed to take good care of herself. "Drink up then, girl" he smirked, he considered her to be a friend and therefore that meant keeping an eye on her. But at least he knew about this little issue in case she ever felt like this again in his presence. "Yes. That's a good thing. Though it can't be nice all the same" he said, even if it only lasted a few minutes, it probably felt like forever for her. But he was very glad to hear it wasn't anything serious.

She was here with co-workers. Although clearly she'd left them inside, maybe they were wondering where she was. He couldn't resist laughing, raising an eyebrow and pretending to look shocked, "What! Librarians go wild?! Who'd have thought it!" he teased her, he guessed that they were probably stereotyped a bit. Though he was getting the impression that Rachel wasn't much of a fan of nights out like this. That was fair enough. Maybe he was slightly pleased to establish that she wasn't here on some hot date with another guy. That gave him another chance to flirt, and besides, she was clearly playfully teasing him by reaching for the end of his tie like that. Some subtle flirting, he most definitely approved of that. He smirked at her, "Aw, you don't like the shirt and tie?" he teased, he did feel a bit out of place here dressed like that though. "Just came from a meeting with a client" he explained, but he didn't really want to talk about work. "Then I happened to see you. I've been meaning to text you so we could meet up sometime... I've just been so busy lately. Meetings, photoshoots... and I just got back from a vacation" he said, things were calming down a bit though and he did feel a bit more relaxed after his week vacation.

Rachel laughed at his comment, he was probably going to watch her until she'd finished the whole glass. She was definitely guilty of not drinking enough, but she knew she would really stay on top of that. Anything to stop herself from feeling this way again, because it was truly horrible. It might not be classed as anything serious, but that didn't mean to say that one day it wouldn't be which was why she had to start looking after herself now.

She had a feeling he as teasing her with that remark, "I know, right? Fancy that. We're not just stuck with our noses in books all day" she laughed, though she'd soon rather do that than go out drinking. She didn't like to have to change who she was just to fit in with other people and so for that reason she should have just politely declined the invitation tonight. But then again, if she'd done that she would have never run into Kieran and he was definitely helping to make her feel better. It had been a long time since someone had flirted with her, and honestly she thought she was terrible at flirting back, but it was a whole lot easier when she felt comfortable around someone. Maybe it just came naturally. "I love the shirt and tie" she smirked, oh yes there was definitely something about a man in a suit. She liked the mature, professional look and he had that going for him. "You just look a little overdressed here" she giggled, glancing around at the young guys who quite honestly looked a bit scruffy in their jeans, t-shirts and hoodies. They were also a whole lot younger than her and Kieran.

Rachel took another sip from her water, definitely starting to feel more human again. "It's alright, you really don't need to justify yourself" she smiled, she wasn't a needy female and besides, they were just friends. It was a nice to be a little flirty, but she didn't expect anything from him. "A vacation... that sounds good. With your little girl?" she asked, assuming she would have gone because he'd already told her that she had no contact with her mother. Now she thought about it, he'd told her that was a story for another time. Obviously she was curious but she still felt like it wasn't really her place to ask him about it.

Even if she did have her nose in a book all day, he didn't see anything wrong with that. Intelligence was sexy. He found himself being far more attracted to quiet, reserved women these days. It made a change considering most of the women he'd dated in the past had probably been a bit too outspoken and bold for his liking. "Mhmm... so librarians by day, party animals by night" he laughed, though Rachel had already expressed her dislike of nights out, so he guessed she wasn't such a party animal after all.

He smirked when she told him she loved the shirt and tie... he would definitely bare that in mind. But he did like to make an effort anyway if he was going out for an evening. Obviously on this occasion he had been meeting a client rather than having a social night out which was why he'd opted for a shirt and tie. He followed her gaze as she looked around, clearly to see what other men were wearing. She had a point, the other guys were dressed very casually. A bit too casually for his liking. "These youngsters... they have no fashion sense! I didn't realise wearing saggy pants with your boxers on show was still a thing" he laughed, okay maybe he'd been guilty of that too back in the day, it made him cringe now. He turned back to Rachel with a smirk on his face, he refrained from telling her that women didn't usually tell him he was over dressed. "But if you're worried I'm overdressed, I can always undress if you want me too" he smirked, taking his hand off her knee and leaning back in his chair. Of course he was just teasing, they'd got to a point in their friendship where he realised they could be a little flirty with each other. If she didn't like it he was sure she'd tell him and if so, he'd stop.

Kieran smiled at her, the last thing he needed was someone on his back, constantly wanting attention all the time. But he also didn't want her to think he'd been neglecting her or had forgotten her in some way. "Yeah, with Grace... my mom, my aunt and uncle. Spent a week in Fort Lauderdale. We had a villa, Grace loves the pool so she was happy. It was just... nice, you know? Relaxing. I think I needed that" he shrugged, he felt like it had been a bit of a rough year so that vacation had been well and truly needed. He'd like to think he'd come back feeling refreshed, but only time would tell on that one.

Rachel laughed at his remark, even though it couldn't be further from the truth. "Yeah, it's hard work living a double life" she grinned, tonight just reminded her why she had never been a party animal and never would be. She followed Kieran's gaze again to the young guys, well one thing was for certain, he was a man that knew how to dress well - perhaps these youngsters should take tips from him because she didn't see what was so appealing about wearing your pants halfway down your ass. She shuddered slightly, "Ugh... I don't think that's ever really been a thing. Or maybe I just don't get it" she laughed, "Though I think British boys are just as guilty. Must be a boy thing..." she smirked, she doubted she'd ever really understand men in general. She returned her gaze back to Kieran almost suddenly when he made that comment, clearly stepping things up a bit when it came to the flirting between them. She had to be feeling better now because he was making her laugh and she was even a little disappointed when he took his hand away from her knee. "I mean... you could, but I wouldn't want to see you get done for public indecency" she smirked, lucky for him she knew he was teasing and she wasn't really the sort to take things too seriously. Unless he gave her a good reason to be worried or made her genuinely uncomfortable. But there was none of that.

She leant back in her chair as he spoke about his vacation, she liked the fact that he seemed to be really close to his family, it said a lot about him and she respected him for it. "That sounds lovely. It's nice to have some quality family time" she smiled, "Honestly, I'm a bit jealous... I could probably do with a little holiday. I think I've just been doing too much lately. I've not really had a chance to stop since I moved here. It's no wonder I feel like this" she shrugged and reached for her glass of water to take another sip. She needed to slow down a bit because it had actually been a stressful few months trying to settle in around town with a new house and a new job. But she did like to think it would all be worth it in the end.

Kieran chuckled slightly, he guessed it was a trend that boys grew out of eventually when they realised how stupid they actually looked. "And there was me trying to convince you last time I saw you that American boys are better" he winked, though he was sure she probably thought boys were boys no matter where they lived or came from. Just like he was sure he'd have no better luck with a girl from another country, but he was keen to find out! Her accent alone was a turn on for him, he could probably listen to her talk all day and he wouldn't get bored.

Luckily she seemed to see the funny side of his comment, at least not taking it seriously anyway so that was something. He smirked, "Fair point. I don't fancy spending the night in jail. I mean, I'm supposed to be a responsible father" he grinned, he was more worried about getting into some stupid fight and then ending up getting arrested. Because he'd come so close in recent times no thanks to Zoe's delightful older brother who still clearly had it in for him. Oh boy was he was glad he'd not run into him since he'd slpit up with her. He feared he'd be walking away with more than just a black eye and a busted lip.

After what had been a busy and somewhat stressful year so far it had been really nice to just get away for a bit and forget about everything. He had been starting to feel extremely run down and that was how he knew it was definitely time to just relax. Of course it wasn't going to solve all his issues, but it had taken his mind of things for the time being. He nodded his head at Rachel, "I guess you've had a busy few months... moving to a new country, starting a new job and setting up home all at once is probably a bit too much. Can you get some time off work? Sometimes a break is all we need" he said with a small smile, "Honestly, I've had a crap year so far. All I wanted to do was get away from Lochland for a bit and clear my head" he shrugged, maybe it had worked a bit but he feared everything would just get on top of him again.

Oh, that was right, she remembered him trying to suggest that perhaps she needed to date an American guy. Hmm. Well she wasn't exactly back on the dating scene yet, but she was open to meeting someone. "Well... only time will tell. I might still need a little more convincing" she smirked, maybe men in general were all cheats and liars. She'd like to think that wasn't true but she didn't hold out much hope for meeting someone who was going to remain loyal. That was the problem when you'd been cheated on, now she just lived in fear that the next man she met would only do the exact same thing to her.

Rachel grinned at his comment, luckily she could take a joke. He'd have to be quite odd to actually start undressing here in front of everyone! As much as she was sure he was hiding a great body underneath that shirt, now wasn't exactly the time or place to be stripping off. Unless he really did want to end up in the back of a police car!

She really needed to slow down a bit, it had just been a crazy few months and now it was catching up with her. She nodded her head slowly, "Yeah... I'm planning on taking a week off at the end of the summer. Might just go back to England for a few days though. We'll see. But I think you're right, I just need a break before I really do burn myself out" she said, it wasn't good for anyone to get to that point. She reached for her glass of water again, peering over the top of it as he spoke, wondering if he had other stuff going on as well that she wasn't aware of. Obviously she knew he hadn't been single all that long and was probably still getting over that. "And did it help?" she asked softly, she supposed it had to be hard sometimes living in a small town, especially when you'd just broken up with someone and could potentially run into them everyday.
